Bintan Island is part of the Riau Islands, part of Riau Province, Sumatra Indonesia. It is closer to Singapore than it is to Sumatra. A ferry from Singapore takes around 55 minutes or a ferry from Batam island only takes 20 minutes. The main city of Bintan is Tanjung Pinang ('Areca Palm Cape')

How to get to Bintan

 

Ferries can be caught to Bintan from Singapore, Johor Bahru Malaysia and Batam. The ferries arrive at Bandar Bentar Telani Ferry Terminal on the western side of the island, located close to Tanjung Pinang the main town on Bintan.

 

Bintan Resort Ferries have up to 7 ferries going between Singapore's Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal and Bintan from S$22 one way for adults. http://www.brf.com.sg

Bintan's airport is located in Tanjung Pinang.
