The 4 hour trek (part of the Bukit Lawang Day Trip) leaves Bukit Lawang at around 12pm, after you have arrived in Bukit Lawang and had a chance to have look around Bukit Lawang village and a break for coffee/cold drink. You trek into the jungle and have lunch by a water pond which is good for swimming. The trek back to Bukit Lawang will take you via the Orangutan Feeding platform at around 3.30pm to see the daily afternoon feeding of the semi-wild Orangutan.
Both the 6 hour trek and overnight trek leave Bukit Lawang first thing in the morning and go via the Orangutan Centre feeding platform for your best chance to see the orangutan up close. The tours include trekking guides (Obiwan and his team), PHPA park permit, snacks and lunch.
The overnight trekking tour includes snacks, lunch, dinner and breakfast in the jungle as well as rafting back down the Bohorok river to Bukit Lawang. Rafting can be added at the end of the 6 hour trek for an extra 15 Euros per person.
The car used for the transfer is a new air-conditioned Ford Everest SUV. The road from Medan to Bukit Lawang is very bumpy so the SUV will give you a comfortable ride all the way.
